A complete inquiry gets a complete answer fast. This page is the checklist our engineers work from when they quote a laminated busbar — send these items and the technical and commercial response comes back within one business day.
Everything the quotation depends on can be stated in one short list: operating current (continuous and peak, with duty cycle if it varies), voltage class (e.g. 400 V, 800 V, 1500 V DC), conductor material (C11000 copper or 6101 aluminum), layer count (1-6+ laminated layers), terminal types (M6/M8 studs, blade, welded tabs) and annual quantity. Add the environment — ambient temperature, enclosure, altitude — and any test requirements. If some items are unknown, our engineers will recommend defaults with the quotation; see the specifications page for standard options.
Send a drawing in PDF, DXF or STEP, or a photo of a sample with rough dimensions, through the contact page, by email to busbar@shanyo.com, or on WhatsApp +1 519 253 9195. Drawings stay confidential: they are used only for your quotation and project, and are never shared with other customers. If you do not have a drawing yet, the laminated busbar design guide explains what the drawing must define.
Within one business day of a complete specification, our engineering team returns a technical response: confirmation or correction of layer stack, dielectric material (PET, Nomex or DLF), conductor thickness and width, plating (typically tin 5-15 µm), terminal layout, and a DFM review flagging any manufacturability issue in the drawing — for example creepage that is too short for the voltage class or a bend radius the material cannot hold.
The commercial quotation itemizes unit price against annual volume, tooling cost where applicable, sample cost, lead time and payment terms. Prices follow copper and aluminum market conditions at order confirmation, which is why the quotation states a validity period, typically thirty days. Technical and commercial questions should be raised before acceptance — that is the point where DFM feedback is still free.
After order confirmation the flow is: tooling build if required (typically 2-4 weeks), sample build and approval against the released drawing, then production lots. Every lot is tested per the agreed plan — hipot, insulation resistance, dimensional and continuity checks — and ships with its quality records. Production lead time for repeat orders is usually 2-5 weeks depending on volume and plating.
Three things delay a quote: an incomplete specification (current or voltage missing forces engineering back-and-forth), a drawing with unresolved tolerance or creepage questions, and an undefined test scope. If you are unsure what to send, send a sketch and a current profile — the engineers will tell you exactly what is missing. For a fast first pass, use the ampacity calculator to pre-size the cross-section yourself.
