EV Charging Station Busbar Solutions

DC fast chargers push high-voltage DC from the rectifier to the vehicle connector with minimal loss. Our EV charging station busbars carry that bulk DC compactly, with low inductance and partial-discharge control at fast-charge voltage levels.

Where They Are Used

In the EV Charging

The four places busbars carry current in this application.

Rectifier DC Link

The laminated backbone between the rectifier output and the DC-link capacitor bank inside the power cabinet.

DC Distribution to Charging Modules

Compact multilayer bars distributing bulk DC from the DC link to each parallel charging module.

Output Filter and Connector Links

Short, low-inductance paths from the DC bus through output filtering to the charging outlet interface.

Parallel Module Current Sharing

Matched, symmetric busbar sets letting parallel power modules share current evenly.

Precharge and Discharge Circuits

Compact connections for precharge resistors, contactors and bleeder paths in the power cabinet.

Cabinet-to-Cable Transition

Integrated studs and connectors on the busbar providing an all-in-one transition to the charging cable harness.

Design Priorities

Why laminated wins here

  • High-voltage isolation and PD control — Faster charging depends on higher DC voltages; the busbar must deliver isolation and partial-discharge control at DC-fast-charge levels — PD held below the industry reference of 10 pC.
  • Low loss, low heat — Distributing bulk DC with high efficiency means minimal heat generation — important in sealed roadside cabinets.
  • High power density in a small cabinet — Compact powder-coated construction (reference ratings up to 2.5 kV AC, −40 to 125 °C) squeezes the distribution path into envelopes film lamination cannot reach.
  • Low inductance protects the link — Tight commutation loops protect DC-link capacitors and semiconductor switches from overshoot, V = L × di/dt.
  • Roadside reliability and serviceability — Commercial roadside equipment runs unattended; bolted, tooled terminals and documented batch QC keep the distribution path serviceable.

Application Deep-Dive

EV Charging Station Busbar Solutions

EV adoption drives roadside fast-charging build-out, and every charging cabinet is a power-conversion station in its own right. The laminated busbar is a key element in the station's power-distribution circuitry: it transfers electricity from the source to the input connector of the charging circuit. Faster charging requires higher voltages, and higher-voltage charging depends on a robust DC link and power-distribution system that the busbar must support.

Inside the cabinet, the laminated busbar forms the DC-link and distribution backbone of the EVSE power stage — carrying the bulk DC from the rectifier to the outlet connector with low loss. Reference designs pair standard laminated bars with compact powder-coated construction where the envelope is smallest; the compact grade trades some voltage headroom (reference up to 2.5 kV AC) for geometry that film lamination cannot cover, and resists harsh roadside conditions including oil and salt. Where charging modules sit in parallel, matched and symmetric busbar sets share current evenly across every module.

At DC-fast-charge voltage levels, the design center shifts to isolation and partial discharge. Optimizing for high-voltage isolation and PD control — sealed edges, no trapped air gaps, verified below the industry reference level of 10 pC — protects the DC-link capacitors and semiconductor switches that charging revenue depends on. Low inductance is the same discipline we apply to EV traction inverters: shorter commutation loops mean lower overshoot (V = L × di/dt), longer capacitor life and cooler operation in sealed cabinets.

Roadside equipment also has to be serviceable without a full teardown. Tooled bolted studs and integrated cable transitions replace hours of hand-built harnessing, eliminate wiring errors, and give maintenance a defined disconnect point. On the vehicle side, our battery busbars family covers module and pack links; on the cabinet side, the power electronics family covers the DC link. FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers from the engineering team.

What are the standard conductor and dielectric options?
Conductors are C11000 copper as standard, with aluminum available on request, tin plated. Dielectrics include PET, Nomex and epoxy (DLF) films, selected according to your voltage class and operating temperature.
What testing is performed on production lots?
Testing follows the specification agreed at design freeze: dielectric withstand (hipot), insulation resistance, dimensional inspection, visual inspection of plating and edge sealing, and continuity checks per conductor path.
What current ratings can SHANYUAN busbars handle?
Rating is designed per application up to roughly 1000 A, sized against continuous and peak current with thermal margin — see our ampacity chart for the starting reference points.
How long does a sample build take?
A sample is typically produced within 5–7 working days from drawing approval. Fit and electrical verification is done in-house, and you receive test results together with the sample.
What quality system do you follow?
Production follows a documented process chain with batch records: incoming material checks, dimensional inspection, hipot and insulation testing, continuity checks and final visual inspection. Test records are issued per lot on request.
Do you support international shipping and packaging?
Yes. Parts are packed with edge protection, anti-static film and export-grade cartons to your handling requirements, and shipped by sea or air. Commercial documents (invoice, packing list, test records) are provided with every shipment.
